Union Square Business Opportunity Could be Yours

Union Square Café Opportunity Signals New Business Momentum in San Francisco

San Francisco officials are seeking a new operator for the West Café space in Union Square Park, opening the door for a unique small business opportunity in one of the city’s most iconic locations.

The 930-square-foot café space on Powell Street is currently occupied by popular bakery B. Patisserie, with a new tenant expected to take over operations around March 2027. Located in the heart of Union Square, San Francisco’s premier shopping and tourism district, the space includes indoor café service and a 600-square-foot outdoor seating area overlooking the park.

The opportunity comes as Union Square continues to see renewed activity from tourism, retail, and local events, with the park becoming increasingly active through daily programming and new food concepts. The nearby East Café space has already been awarded to Bay Area favorite Super Duper, which plans to open later this year.

For entrepreneurs and hospitality groups, the West Café represents a rare chance to operate in one of San Francisco’s highest-visibility commercial locations. With thousands of visitors, shoppers, and office workers passing through Union Square each day, the space highlights the growing demand for retail, dining, and hospitality businesses in downtown San Francisco. As activity returns to Union Square, opportunities like this reflect the broader momentum happening across the city’s commercial real estate landscape.
