San Francisco Interim Furnished Housing

While many people love coming to San Francisco for business it can be quite expensive, difficult, and uncomfortable to stay for intermediate periods of time. Hotels and companies such as Airbnb & VRBO are great options for daily and weekly rentals but they can quickly get very pricey when looking for an extended stay of more than a few weeks.

At AMSI we offer cost comparative alternative housing options for beautifully furnished rentals on a monthly basis. Designed for travelers who will be here longer than 30 days but are not seeking a year lease, our short-term furnished housing program can be a wonderful option. With a vast inventory of unique properties located throughout the city in some of the most coveted neighborhoods of San Francisco, our furnished housing options have been a staple SF service since its innovative inception over thirty years ago.

Originating from demand, AMSI innovators realized that there was a niche market in the business world and that corporate executives often found themselves staying in San Francisco for several months at a time and were looking for the San Francisco experience while here. Harnessing good relationships and developing a reputable reputation, it is no surprise that our extended stay program quickly grew to be one of the first and most desired temporary furnished housing services in the San Francisco, Bay Area, and the United States.

AMSI is unique in that all of our properties are privately owned and often contain many more amenities, accouterments, and appliances than our competitors and hotel counterparts. With the amazing allure of San Francisco's charm, we have become a beacon for the industry and have helped build the standard of corporate housing expectations to date. We work directly with our clients to help them find exactly what they are looking for and try our best to anticipate their housing needs in order to make the process of finding an interim place to stay painless and exciting.

Our properties are very diverse, ranging from our pristinely updated furnished condos in downtown high-rise buildings great for corporate executives, to charming San Francisco flats, chateaus, and even full Victorian houses perfect for the relocating family. Suited for people from all walks of life we are here to accommodate and work with you to enhance the authentic San Francisco experience.

Over the years we have housed a wide variety of corporate executives, movie stars (Michael Douglas, Gene Hackman, Don Johnson, Wendy Kilbourne, Gary Cole, Placido Domingo & Sharon Stone), and many others, who have enjoyed the authentic experience that AMSI has to offer. San Francisco's magic and charm are embedded in the heart of the cities architecture and our wide variety of properties showcase the many elements that make this vibrant city shine. AMSI fills the niche for those clients who are taking residence in San Francisco for a temporary assignment, or who are relocating to San Francisco and need interim housing until they secure long-term housing.

Whether it be breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, or the Bay, chances are we have something to fit any and all of your housing needs. We embrace people from all walks of life and would be delighted to share our beautiful catalog of properties to help you find the perfect place to stay while in this beautiful city.

*Rendering © Bjarke Ingels Group* Updated plans have been released for 35 South Second Street in Downtown San Jose, a mixed-use development designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) . The project, referred to as the Fountain Alley development , is scheduled for review by the San Jose Planning Director and reflects a shift from an earlier office-and-housing proposal to a predominantly residential program. Project Overview The revised plans call for two residential towers, rising 27 and 28 stories , with a total of 768 apartments and ground-floor retail. The development is part of a broader downtown San Jose master plan led by Westbank and Urban Community , which includes multiple residential and mixed-use sites throughout the city. The project will span approximately 831,600 square feet , including residential units, ground-floor retail, and basement parking. Bicycle parking is planned for 417 spaces, with vehicular parking located in a multi-level subterranean garage. Change in Use Earlier versions of the project included a stronger emphasis on office space. The updated proposal reflects a reconfiguration toward residential use, consistent with other recent revisions within the larger Westbank and Urban Community portfolio in downtown San Jose. A related site at 180 Park Avenue began demolition and excavation in 2022, though work was paused due to an archaeological discovery. Recent reporting indicates that plans for that site have also been revised to focus on residential units rather than office development. Design and Site Details BIG is serving as the project architect, with Bionic as the landscape architect. Renderings show residential towers with balconies, integrated landscaping, and a pedestrian-oriented plaza connecting South Second Street with surrounding streets. Exterior materials are expected to include aluminum, terracotta-toned glass-fiber-reinforced concrete, and curtainwall glass. The development site occupies approximately 1.25 acres along South Second Street, between Santa Clara Street and San Fernando Street, near the Bank of Italy Tower. Housing Mix and Affordability The project is proposed to include: 177 studios 413 one-bedroom units 152 two-bedroom units 26 three-bedroom units Approximately 5% of the units will be deed-restricted for very low-income households, utilizing California’s State Density Bonus law . Next Steps The project is scheduled for review at a Planning Director Hearing on Wednesday, December 17 , to be held virtually via Zoom with opportunities for public comment.
